Edna Terry

Deaconess Edna J. Terry, of 756 Mill Creek Road, Chatham, Virginia departed this life on Friday, March 1, 2024 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born September 28, 1945, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Booth Hunt. She was married to Lester Terry, who survives. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only brother Harold Thomas Hunt and sister-in- law Jerlene Hunt.

She was a 1963 graduate of Northside High School and continued her education at Phillips Business College where she received a certificate in accounting. She was employed for many years at: Sydnor Jennings Elementary School, Universal Electric Company, Klopman Mills, Pittsylvania County Community Action, and the Commonwealth Attorney's Office.

She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church where she served as the financial secretary, a member of the choir, and on various auxiliaries until her health declined.

In addition to her husband of the residence, she leaves to cherish her loving memories a son; Tremayne Terry (Jerrica) of Fredericksburg, VA; grandson, Tye Donald Terry of Dumfries, VA; God-daughter, Karen Hayes of Lynchburg, VA; God-son, Tony Gunter of Chatham, VA; three sisters, Mary Mitchell (Harry) of Hurt, VA, Theressa Fay Ferguson (Kenneth) of Jefferson City, MO and Emma Hunt Younger (Calvin) of Greensboro, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Fairview Baptist Church 3853 Zion Rd. Gretna, VA 24557 with Bishop Larry Robertson, Sr., Eulogist.  Interment will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 3580 Wards Rd. Hurt, VA 24563. 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of service.
